    Waco Mammoth National Monument is an accessible place to learn about the ancient history of the area now called Waco and some of its most singular creatures, the wild woolly mammoths. Waco has been fortunate as a hotbed of mammoth discoveries. The National Monument even includes a dig shelter where you can see a real excavation site and how it was used. Guided tours are available daily with no reservation required.
