waco clean

Deep cleaning often happens when there are big changes in our lives, such as moving. Sometimes, they're prompted by the season and tradition; spring cleaning, anyone? Regardless of the reason, take a look at this list of often-missed spots to clean. Our real estate agents recommend paying a little more attention to these areas, which are all too easy to forget when you're in a hurry.

  1. Appliance Handles
Every time you touch your fridge, oven, air fryer, and microwave handles, you risk contaminating them or causing cross-contamination of foods. Give them a wipe-down with disinfecting wipes to kill any infectious bacteria. If you do this every time you wipe down your counters, it will soon become a habit!

  2. Behind the Fridge
Pull your fridge away from the wall, and you'll likely be surprised how much dust and debris have accumulated back there. If you can pull it away just a foot or so, you can fit a vacuum wand in the gap and easily suck up the dirt. This will help prevent dust from building up on your fridge's evaporator coil, which may prevent a costly repair down the road!

  3. Behind the Curtains
Always pull your curtains back when you're vacuuming. Dust loves to get trapped back there. If you vacuum it up every time, your curtains will stay a lot cleaner. If you have washable fabric curtains, make sure to wash them regularly. The whole room will feel cleaner and fresher.

  4. Between the Couch Cushions
Have you ever taken cushions off a sofa, only to be amazed at the amount of dust and crumbs that have made their way between the cushions? If you make it a habit to remove the cushions and vacuum the sofa every time you vacuum the room, it will get easier every time, and you'll notice it will smell fresher too!

  5. Light Switches
Maybe you wipe down your doorknobs. But when was the last time you wiped down your light switches? They may be tiny, but as one of the things you frequently touch with your hands, they get pretty germy. A quick wipe-down with a disinfecting wipe will work wonders.

  6. Trash Cans
Even with a good garbage bag, trash cans tend to get dirty, weird smells and substances make their way in, and of course…bacteria. Start taking your trash cans outside and hosing them off once a month. If there's any caked-on grime, scrub it loose with a stiff brush. If your cans are already smelly, rinse them with a little bleach water, which will kill smelly bacteria and mold. Maintain them by giving them a good spray down with cleaner every time you take out the garbage.

  7. Window Sills
Window sills tend to accumulate dirt that settles down from the rest of the window. If you vacuum them every few weeks, they'll stay a lot cleaner. Use a damp cotton swab to get in any dirty crevices.

  8. The Baseboards
A lot of the dust on your floor likely gets kicked to the side and accumulates along the baseboard. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe yours down. You'll be surprised how much dust you gather!

  9. Medicine Cabinets
Often, bathroom and bedroom medicine cabinets get so full of small items that you can barely see the dirt that accumulates on the shelves. But it's there! Unload your cabinets and wipe the shelves down every few months or so. Take this time to also go through your items and dispose of expired items.

  10. Washing Machines
Washing machines can accumulate soap scum between the barrel and liner. Run a washing machine cleaning solution through yours every few weeks to keep the grim buildup to a minimum. Your laundry will smell a lot fresher. Doing this will also extend the life of your appliance and may prevent repairs or replacements down the line. P.S. Do the same for your dishwasher!
