George's Restaurant is a classic American eatery that features a restaurant and bar. Around since the 1930s, it serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a full kids' menu. Sandwiches, salads, burgers, hot dogs, Tex-Mex, seafood, wings, steaks, and stuffed potatoes are just a few of the expansive offerings.
- Health Camp – 2601 Circle Road, Waco, TX 76706
Don't let the name fool you: Health Camp is actually one of the first modern fast-food restaurants in Texas, coming about in 1948. Starting with ice cream and burgers, the name is an homage to founder Jack Schaevitz's military roots and his food's popularity at the local Air Force base.
- Vitek's Market – 1600 Speight Avenue, Waco, TX 75706
Vitek's Market was founded by butcher William Martin Vitek all the way back in 1915. Today, Vitek's barbecue restaurant continues to carry on the original spirit by fulfilling all special requests. Vitek's was the birthplace of the classic Waco "Gut Pak," which includes beans, brisket, sausage, onion, and fixings.
- Cupp's Drive Inn – 1424 Speight Avenue, Waco, TX 76706
Cupp's Drive Inn originates with its owners' arrival in the 1920s and has had the same name since the 1940s. A staple for students from Baylor University from that day to this, it opens from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 in the afternoon, serving up a mouthwatering selection of breakfasts, burgers, and fries.
- Jake's Texas Tea House – 613 Austin Avenue, Waco, TX 76701
Sweet tea is a Southern necessity, and Jake's Texas Tea House pairs it with hearty helpings of chicken-fried steak, chicken-fried chicken, and chicken-fried just about anything else you have a hankering for. An ever-growing list of nearly a dozen different "Hubcap Burgers" is also available.
- Poppa Rollo's Pizza – 703 North Valley Mills Drive, Waco, TX 76710
Touting "Waco's Best Pizza" since 1969, Poppa Rollo's Pizza is the place to go for specialty handmade pizzas. The menu includes all your favorite side dishes and chicken wings, but the real star is pizza made from fresh local ingredients. They're available in sizes up to the 16" Giant.
- Schmaltz's Sandwich Shoppe – 1412 North Valley Mills Drive, Waco, TX 76710
"Waco Born and Bread" Schmaltz's Sandwich Shoppe has been around since 1975. With two locations, it was originally found right on the Baylor University campus. There are all kinds of sandwich toppings to choose from, but the fresh-baked bread is the hallmark of a soup, salad, and sandwich combo here.
